Academic pursuits

I received the bulk of my education in Victoria, Australia, having attended schools outside of Melbourne before moving to the state's capital to undertake my tertiary studies. I had always displayed an aptitude and penchant for mathematics and the physical sciences, and obtained my Bachelor of Science (Honours) from the University of Melbourne, majoring in both physics and mathematics. I continued my studies under the guidance of Robert Scholten, investigating the Generation of shaped cold electron bunches for ultrafast electron diffraction for my doctorate, before moving to Europe working at both the Laboratoire Aimé Cotton and Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz, with research at the former conducted under the prestigious Marie Skłodowska-Curie actions program. Upon returning to Australia, I continued my academic career once again at the University of Melbourne, undertaking research and teaching activities until the end of 2019.
